When should I start making my book?

It depends.

For hardcover books, we recommend starting your book at least one month before you need it. This gives you about two weeks to get contributions, a day or two to review your book and make changes, and then two weeks for printing and shipping. For books containing 100+ pages we suggest adding a few extra days to your timeline to give you an opportunity to thoroughly review your book. Likewise for single orders of 50+ books, please add 3 or 4 days to allow time for printing and shipping.

For ePubs and PDFs, we recommend starting your book at least two weeks before you need it in order to collect contributions and review them before ordering.

How do I check the status of my order?

You can check the status of your order from Your Account page.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Once ordered, most books will arrive within 10 to 14 business days via USPS Priority Mail. For orders of 50+ books, please allow an extra 3 days. ePubs and PDFs are available immediately.

Can I make changes to my book after ordering?

Due to the nature of on demand printing it is not possible to make any changes to your book, ePub or PDF after you've finalized and ordered it. Any changes you make after finalizing your book will affect future orders only.

Can I return a book if I don't want it?

Due to the custom nature of our products, we are unable to accept returns. If you are dissatisfied with your book, please contact us via support@TheWisdomofOthers.com and we'll do our best to make it right. For more information about our return policy please read Our Guarantee.

What's the minimum and maximum number of pages I can have in my book?

The minimum number of pages is 25. The maximum is 200. If you're making a book that will have more than 200 pages please contact us at support@TheWisdomofOthers.com.

Do all of your books come with ‘The Wisdom of Others’ stamped on the front and spine?

Yes.

I forgot my password and can't Sign In. How do I reset my password?

Click 'Forgot your password?' from the Sign Up page and we will send you an email with instructions on how to reset your password and Sign In.

Why was my contribution edited/deleted?

The short answer? We're not sure.

A book's Creator has total creative control over their book and can make any changes or deletions they want.

NOTE: The Wisdom of Others never changes or deletes contributions except in extreme cases when it violates our Terms of Use. If we do change or delete your contribution, we will notify you.

Making a Book

How do I create a book?

From the home page click 'Start Your Own Book' and follow the steps.

How do I invite contributors?

From your Book Management page click on 'Invite Contributors'. On the next screen, select how you would like to send your invitations.

How do I Invite with email?

On the Invite Contributors page click on 'Invite with Email' then enter the email addresses of the people you're inviting (separate their addresses with semicolons) and click the 'Send Email' button. If you use AOL, Yahoo!, Gmail, Outlook, Outlook Express, or Plaxo to manage your email, you can also import the addresses you have stored in your address book by clicking 'Add from my address book'.

How do I Invite with Facebook?

On the Invite Contributors page click 'Invite with Facebook'. Then click the 'Send' button and follow the instructions to select which friends you would like to invite to contribute to your book.

How do I Invite with Twitter?

On the Invite Contributors page click 'Invite with Twitter. Then click the 'Tweet' button and follow the instructions to Tweet an invitation to contribute to your book.

How do I Invite with URL?

On the Invite Contributors page click Copy the URL and put it anywhere you want (emails, blogs, webpages, wedding invitations, save the date cards, birth announcements, graduation announcements, etc.). Anyone who pastes your URL into their browser can contribute to your book.

What is an invitation code?

An invitation code is the combination of letters and numbers that fall at the end of your book's URL. You can change it into any name, phrase or word you want as long as it's at least 6 characters long.

How do I create a personalized invitation code?

From the Invite Contributors page, scroll down to 'Customize Your URL with a Personalized Invitation Code' and enter whatever code you want.

NOTE: Invitation Codes need to be at least 6 characters long.

How do I use the invitation code to contribute to a book?

On the homepage click 'Contribute to a Book' and enter the invitation code.

Do people I invite to contribute to my book have to Sign Up with The Wisdom of Others?

Yes. We've made this mandatory so that you know who's contributing to your book and can contact them if needed with updates or changes to your book.

Will each person I invite to contribute to my book be able to see the contributions of the other invitees?

Yes. Each contributor will be able to preview your book.

How do I view contributions?

All the contributions made to your book are displayed on your Book Management page. You can also view them by clicking on 'Book Review'.

Can I change the order of contributions as they appear in my book?

You sure can! Under 'Your Account', click on 'Manage Book' on the book you wish to edit. From there you will see a series of thumbnails representing each page in your book.

To reorder, all you have to do is click, drag, and drop where you want those pages to go.

Will the people who contribute to my book be able to buy a copy?

Yes.

Can I purchase the book I've contributed to?

Yes, please do.

Can I edit or delete contributions made to my book?

Yes. A book's Creator has total creative control to make any edits, changes or deletions they want.

How do I edit, change or delete a contribution?

If you are the book's Creator:

You can edit, change or delete any contribution made to your book from your Book Management page. Click the 'Edit' link next to the contribution or the 'Edit' bookmark in 'Book Review'.

NOTE: When you make a change or delete a contribution you are asked whether or not you would like us notify the contributor regarding your change.

If you are a Contributor to a book:

You can edit, change or delete your contribution from Your Account. Sign In, click on Your Account and scroll down to 'Contributions You've Made'. Click 'View Contribution' followed by the 'Edit' bookmark.

NOTE: When you change or delete your contribution we notify the Book's creator.

Chances are you deleted it by accident. If so, fill out our Contact Us form and we will do our best to get it back.

Which credit cards do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

Will I be charged sales tax?

Since The Wisdom of Others is headquartered in Washington State, we are required to charge sales tax on orders shipping to Washington State. If you don't ship your order to Washington State, you will not be charged tax.

Ordering

How do I check the status of my order?

You can check the status of your order from Your Account page.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Once ordered, most books will arrive within 10 to 14 business days via USPS Priority Mail. For orders of 50+ books, please allow an extra 3 days. ePubs and PDFs are available immediately.

How will my order ship?

We ship all of our books via USPS Priority Mail.

Can I choose a different shipping speed or carrier?

Not at this time. We hope to offer alternative shipping options in the future.

Where do you ship to?

Currently we only ship to US addresses, but plans are in the works to ship worldwide in the future.

Do you proof or edit my book before printing it?

The Wisdom of Others does not proof, edit, or change your book in any way.

Can I cancel my order after I have placed it?

Unfortunately, no. Orders are final as soon as you click 'Confirm' at checkout. In order to get your book, ePub or PDF to you in the shortest amount of time possible, we add it to the print queue or make it available for download the moment you order it. As a result, we are unable to cancel any orders.

Can I make changes to my book after ordering?

Due to the nature of on demand printing it is not possible to make any changes to your book, ePub or PDF after you've finalized and ordered it. Any changes you make after finalizing your book will affect future orders only.

Do you offer a discount on volume orders?

Yes, we do. You can see the discounts on our Pricing page.

Do you offer free shipping?

You bet! Order 10 or more books and we will ship them to the same address for free.

Where can I see previous orders I've placed?

Go to Your Account page to see a complete history of all your orders with us.

Our Books

What are the dimensions of your books?

Our books are a perfect 6” x 6” square.

What kind of paper do you print on?

We print our books on 100 pound matte text FSC-certified archival paper.

How are the books bound?

All of our books are case bound.

What are your book covers made of?

Our book covers are handcrafted from archival book board, stamped with silver foil and wrapped in Sturdite - a cotton material that looks and feels like leather but is stronger and more durable.

Do all of your books come with ‘The Wisdom of Others’ stamped on the front and spine?

Returns

Can I return a book if I don't want it?

Due to the custom nature of our products, we are unable to accept returns. If you are dissatisfied with your book, please contact us via support@TheWisdomofOthers.com and we'll do our best to make it right. For more information about our return policy please read Our Guarantee.

What do I do about damage to my book or a printing error?

The Wisdom of Others guarantees your satisfaction with the workmanship of your book. Should your book arrive damaged in any way, or with a manufacturing defect, contact us via support@TheWisdomofOthers.com within 14 days of receipt and we will fix it.
